Beignets for Breakfast

Mardi Gras is a time to eat, drink, and celebrate, and we will bring you a taste of each as Fat Tuesday approaches on March 8th, 2011.  Let’s start off with a New Orleans favorite…beignets.  One place comes to mind when you think beignets, and that is the historic Cafe Du Monde of New Orleans.  If you have never tried beignets, they are a fluffy pillow of doughnut goodness dusted with powdered sugar.  They are best fresh, and piping hot!  Although, nothing comes close to experiencing the authentic beignets from Cafe Du Monde, YOU can make your own at home from scratch or using the Cafe Du Monde Beignet Mix.   Jenny, and her adorable daughters, tried beignets for the first time and we have the video to prove it!  If you want to try making them yourself…you can get the recipe Jenny used here.
