Steamy Nutella Hot Chocolate Recipe

Hot hazelnut chocolate?  No brainer on a chilly winter day.  Add warm cookies and a toasty fire and we have pure bliss. An easy peasy recipe coming from Donatella Arpaia - attorney turned “culinary mogul” launching several restaurants in NYC,  guest judge on several Food Network programs and cookbook author.  Phew!  This lady has got it goin’ on!

Nutella Hot Chocolate

Serves 4 to 6

2 cups whole milk

½ cup Nutella

2 cups half-and-half

Gourmet marshmallows, toasted if desired

10 ounces bittersweet chocolate,  chopped (I recommend Valrhona)

Combine the milk and half-and-half in a saucepan and bring to a low boil. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate and Nutella. Whisk until the chocolate is melted and the ingredients are thoroughly combined. Cover to keep hot. If using marshmallows (and you should!), toast them, one at a time over a gas flame, turning until all sides are golden brown. Pour the hot chocolate into small espresso cups, top with the marshmallows, and serve hot.

Loving this Nutella hot chocolate. Living in Germany now and I see Nutella everywhere. I will have to try this one out for sure…and those roasted marshmellows sound like a good combo…Veronica

Ooh, anything with Nutella goes over big in our Turkish-American house! Hazelnuts are one of Turkey’s main food exports. I’ll bet this hot chocolate tastes great with nutella fresh from the factory. :-)
