Chocolate & Spice Bakery {Las Vegas}

As one of Las Vegas’ top pastry chefs, Megan Romano has created something quite special west of the Las Vegas Strip.

I recently visited Megan’s Chocolate & Spice Bakery and I was very impressed. I enjoyed the beautiful decor and was happy to see lots of seating options in the cafe. This isn’t a bakery where you have to rush out and eat in your car (you could, but you don’t have too) — it was clear that this was a place for relaxing, good conversation, and enjoying quality sweet and savory treats.

The desserts were the main reason I visited Chocolate & Spice and desserts are what I received. After sampling , I have three of my oh-my-gosh-you-have-try-this favorites to share with you.

#1. Signature Banana Cream Pie

I’m not a banana cream pie person and I don’t pick it over all the other pie choices. But this Signature Banana Cream Pie has changed me. It’s created from a treasured family recipe and includes a flaky crust, a not-too-sweet banana filling, perfect whipped cream on the top, and a drizzle of the most amazing caramel I have ever had. Seriously good stuff.

#2. Orange Grand Marnier Crème Caramel with Candied Orange and Pistachios

As I sampled the desserts and chocolate, I found myself drawn to the ones that had caramel. As I mentioned above, the caramel at the Chocolate & Spice Bakery was amazing and it quickly became a favorite for me. The Crème Caramel with the Grand Marnier pulls together one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.  And those candied oranges – I’ve come to learn that they are one of her specialties and a favorite around Las Vegas. I can totally see why.

#3. “Inside-Out” Carrot Cake Parfait

Choosing my 3rd choice was hard. I had a favorite sorbet (watermelon) and a favorite chocolate (Salted Caramel Truffle), so it was between one of those and the “Inside-Out” Carrot Cake Parfait. But, in the end, I went with my favorite cake. On my birthday every year, I have carrot cake. I even did when I was kid. I’m always drawn to carrot cakes, and this one did not disappoint. The cake was moist and the frosting was sweet and smooth. I particularly liked how fun it was — it wasn’t just a piece of cake with frosting, but rather layered parfait style.

If you live in Vegas, or even just visiting, the Chocolate & Spice Bakery is a must for places to try. Once you visit, I’m sure you’ll be hooked — I know I am.

Like what you see?  Show them some sugar…
