You know you’re in store for quite the treat when the FedEx man says “You’re getting some of the best chocolate EVER!” Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit- I couldn’t wait to tear open that package and see what was waiting for me! As I pulled back the tissue paper Abdallah Candies lay before me, begging to be opened and enjoyed. I am no stranger to Abdallah Candies, as I was introduced by a friend and hooked ever since. In fact last Christmas everyone on my list got some of Abdallah‘s famous alligators. They hold a special place in my heart as they are based in my state, Minnesota. I am always on the lookout for local companies to support, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have discovered Abdallah Candies.
Abdallah Candies is the state’s third-largest candy maker and is known for its fine chocolates. They have a loyal local customer base, who rave about their exquisite butter almond toffees and artisan truffles. But out of all of the products Abdallah has, customers are absolutely crazed about the company’s “alligators” — pecan-caramel clusters covered in milk chocolate! It is their version of a turtle. The caramel smooth, the chocolate rich, they are what Willy Wonka would refer to as “scrumdiddlyumptious!” Also noteworthy are their milk chocolate marshmallow squares and dark chocolate sea salt almond alligators. Both drool worthy. Using wholesome and pure ingredients, intricate techniques and even a few of the same pot and pans allow the Abdallah family, generations later, to present to you, these classic confections. Abdallah sells their chocolates through the company’s on-site retail store in Burnsville, Minnesota, as well as in hospital gift shops, Hallmark stores, and specialty shops.
