Bacon Desserts You Didn’t Know you Needed in Your Life

You know bacon, you love bacon, and sometimes you joke about wanting it on everything. Your friends probably think that’s a little odd, but let’s be honest here, you can actually do it. Before you can add bacon to any of the sweet treats we are going to mention, there are a few things that you will absolutely need to know.

  • Chop it Up – First of all you need to make sure that the bacon is finely chopped. The end goal is not to land yourself a sweet treat with massive chunks of bacon and in many cases the point is to hide the ingredient rather than flaunt it.
  • Cook it Through – The second thing you need to do is make sure it is cooked through so that it is crunchy rather than rubbery. We all love rubbery bacon in the morning, but when you’re baking it in a confection of some kind, it needs to easy to eat, especially if you’re cooking it for other people. You really, really don’t want to look at your guests and find them trying to pull a piece of bacon out of a cookie with their teeth. Even bacon has a line, and that would definitely be crossing it.
  • Drain it – No matter what kind of yummy treat you are creating, you need to make sure that you drain the grease from the bacon. In order to do this, after you cook the bacon in a pan, you will want to empty the pan into a strainer and allow it to drain into the sink. As always, once it drains fully, go ahead and run hot water down the sink drain to prevent clogging.

On to the Tasty Treats!

When it comes to bacon, there are a ton of tasty treats you can make, all of which are absolutely amazing! For example, you could start with milkshakes, and bacon flavored milkshakes definitely aren’t new. We’ve seen them around from time to time and they’re just as good as they sound. All you really need to do here is mix the bacon chunks with the milkshake, but not too heavily. It’s not a hard concoction and it tastes awesome!

Taking it a step further, why not try cooking bacon pieces into brownies? Chocolate chips and bacon tend to go together quite well, and if you’ve drained the grease like we said, it should meld perfectly with the cookie batter.

Finally, consider making sweet rolls with bacon as a great morning snack or an after-dinner desert. Bacon chunks can be incorporated into the syrup, and it won’t be too long before you find yourself enjoying what we consider to be one of the most amazing and fun treats out there. Now you know of three great treats you can make with bacon, but we encourage you to experiment with bacon in the kitchen – you never know just what it might go well with.
