Grill Style – Great for Barbeques

  • 6 Bone-In or Boneless Pork Chops
  • 2 tsp. Cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce or All Purpose Seasoning
  • ½ tsp. Fresh or Powdered Ginger (try garlic for a bolder flavor)
  • ½ Cup Apple Sauce or Apple Juice
  • ½ Cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ Cup Water
  • Cracked Pepper and Salt (to taste, for serving)

Cooking the Pork Chops

This recipe was designed for the grill, and you could use a stove top grill, or a barbeque.

  1. Take all your ingredients, except for the pork chops, and combine them in a food processor. Mix until the sauce is thick and consistent. If you don’t have a food processor, mix manually in a bowl, but mix the water and cornstarch separately and combine last to avoid lumping.
  2. Preheat the grill and rub down with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook the pork chops for around 10 minutes, turning only once to ensure you achieve a nice char on either side of the pork chop. When fully cooked, use a cooking brush to lather sauce onto the pork chops, cooking for a moment on each side to achieve a nice glaze on the pork chops.
  4. Use the remaining sauce for serving, and serve with steamed rice, or with mashed potatoes and a fresh garden salad.

Slow Cooker Style – a Meal for Any Occasion

  • 6 Bone-In or Boneless Pork Chops
  • ½ Cup Apple Sauce or Apple Juice
  • ½ Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp. Soy Sauce or All Purpose Seasoning
  • 1 tsp. Mustard Powder
  • Cracked Pepper and Salt (to taste, for serving)
  • Olive Oil

Slow Cooking the Pork Chops

  1. Use olive oil (or vegetable oil, or butter) to coat the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Place your unseasoned pork chops in the cooker.
  3. Take the rest of your ingredients and mix them together in a food processor, or by hand in a bowl. If you’re using apple sauce, add about ½ cup of water to the mixture to avoid drying out while cooking.
  4. When the ingredients are combined, pour them over the pork chops and leave the slow cooker to cook for around 6 hours. You may need an additional two hours cooking time to help reduce the sauce, depending on your slow cooker. Check for consistency before serving.
  5. Serve these delicious pork chops over hot steamed rice, seasoned couscous, or with potatoes or other vegetables in the style of your choosing.
