Easter has come and gone and we’re almost all the way through April. It’s officially Spring!!! If we say it loudly and often enough maybe the weather will listen!
If the weather doesn’t listen though, it’s not a problem. We got this creative new gin cocktail recipe from Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina (3 locations in Michigan) which is sure to put a little Spring in your step, regardless of the temperature outside.
It looks traditional enough at first glance, but you’ll notice that the last ingredient is a float of beet and carrot vinegar. If that makes you a little nervous, don’t worry! The vinegar provides a tangy, almost fruity compliment to the woodsy flavors of the gin, and it gives the drink a fun little kick It’s a great combination that I can’t believe I haven’t tried before.
This is a drink you need to try at least once. And if someone could make one of these for Punxsutawney Phil, maybe he would speed up his whole “ending Winter” thing. Here’s the recipe :
Pass the ON
: 2oz Death’s Door gin
.5oz Kings Ginger liqueur
.5oz Lemon juice
.75oz Beet and carrot vinegar (float)
Shake together all ingredients but the vinegar. Pour into a rocks glass filled with ice. Float the vinegar into the cocktail. Garnish with lime, and drink up!
Edit: A previous version of this post credited Death’s Door Spirits with creating the recipe. It was actually created by the mixologist at Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina in Michigan. The post has been edited to reflect that. Don’t worry, the folks at Bigalora were VERY sweet about it!
