“Healthier” Double Chocolate Brownie Recipe @hollyclegg


In all honesty we can probably stop right there and most of us would be pretty happy campers. But then there is the word “Brownie”….Double Fudge Brownie – Heavenly right? But usually pretty sinful. What if I told you though that our friend Holly Clegg with trim&TERRIFIC is here to share a not so sinful batch of brownies with us! Pretty Great right?! Especially during this lovely season where we’ve got sweets, sweets, sweets everywhere!

Double Chocolate Brownies

Holly Clegg: “The best crowd-pleasing brownies, perfect for tailgating when rooting on your favorite team or even a sweet back-to-school sweet treat. Everyone goes wild when I make them – I included dark or bittersweet chocolate chips to contrast the sweet chocolate almond icing…one of the best combinations, chocoholics!”

Makes 48 brownies

1 (21.5-ounce) package original brownie mix

2 eggs

1/3 cup canola oil

1/4 cup water

1/3 cup bittersweet or dark chocolate chips (1/2 cup for more chocolate)

3 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons cocoa

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

2 tablespoons skim milk

1 teaspoon almond extract



1.  Preheat oven 350ºF.
2.  In bowl, combine together brownie mix, eggs, oil, and water until well mixed.  Stir in chocolate chips.
3.  Transfer to 13  9  2-inch baking pan coated with nonstick cooking spray. Bake 23–25 minutes (be careful to not overcook). Cool.
4.  In mixing bowl, cream together butter, cocoa, confectioners’ sugar, milk, almond extract until creamy. Spread on top brownies.
