This is the time of year for Bark! Peppermint, chocolate, white chocolate, and a million other delicious flavors and textures. It really is the most WONDERFUL time of the year, all because of BARK. Upon receiving 2 jugs of glorious Dave’s Coffee Syrup my mind began to explore the possibilities. What can I add this to, what recipe can I improve by adding coffee syrup to it? And then I had my Oprah “A-HA” moment. BARK! (I know that was completely obvious considering the title of this feature. Call me Captain Obvious.)
So here you have it. For those of you who are real deep dark chocolate lovers – use the Original Coffee Syrup flavor, for those of you who prefer a smooth finish, use the Madagascar Vanilla – like buttah. I used high-quality 90% Cocoa (it’s healthier, ya know *snort*) dark chocolate bars. Go with my recipe, or create your own, but use these coffee syrups to create something truly unique.
Dark Chocolate Double Espresso Bark
3 high quality chocolate bars – I used 90% cocoa dark chocolate
3 T Dave’s Coffee Syrup – either Vanilla or Original flavors, you choose
1/2 – 1 Cup Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans
Coarsely chop chocolate covered espresso beans, set aside. Lightly spray an 8×8 baking pan with pan spray (lightly), set aside. Toss, evenly, about 1/3 of the espresso beans into the bottom of the sprayed pan.
Break apart chocolate and place in a microwave safe bowl. Melt by microwaving 30 seconds at a time and then stir. Repeat until the majority of the chocolate is melted, then stir until the rest melts and chocolate is smooth. Add coffee syrup to the chocolate, mix well.
Carefully pour chocolate mixture into the baking pan. Gently tap out air bubbles. This make take a bunch of taps, so if your kids are napping, tap it on top of a towel (or your husbands head). Keep tapping until no more bubbles rise up.
Sprinkle top of chocolate with espresso beans. Let set on the counter, or you can refrigerated depending on how much time you have.
Once thoroughly set turn over onto a cutting board. Chop away, making different sizes and shapes, or bite sized nuggets to give away or making it easier to eat when your company looks away.
Like what you see? Show them some sugar…
