Eat the Caribbean with Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes

It’s like a big beachy party in your mouth (sans sand in your swimsuit) – Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes.  Admit it, you’ve seen them on cruise ships and gift shops across the world and have been intrigued.  I (Sherlock Holmes) am here to investigate…

I was actually able to visit one of their shops when I was in the Bahamas a few months ago (see my “vacation” pictures here) and about flipped at all the Rum cake flavors they offer – hello, Banana, Chocolate, Coconut – I want you all. I inspected and will have you know their special vacuum sealing (and preservative free) keeps those cakes super duper moist and each bite has the perfect hint of Caribbean Rum.

My favorite…The Chocolate Rum Cake.

Even though they seem like a gigantic company, Tortuga has an amazing family story.  Watch their new video here. (If you’re wondering, yes, I am sucking up, I want an invite to visit their factory in Grand Cayman).

Get your cakes worldwide at gift shops, cruise ships or online.

Like what you see?  Show them some sugar…

    Cooking with Michele

I took a short little cruise with girlfriends last year and after shopping in Nassau we bought one of these. We intended to bring them home for our husbands, but ended up eating them for breakfast on our balcony with coffee. To die for good!
