Premium. When this fancy little word is used, you know you are going to get a good quality product that will make others look inferior. That is exactly what Edwards frozen desserts do to the rest of the frozen dessert world. Now, I have to admit, pie is pretty low on the food chain when it comes to desserts for me, but this pie looked more like a cheesecake, so I was hoping for something good. Not only was it good, it left my expectations in the dust.
After looking at my local grocery store selection of the frozen pies, I opted for the Salted Caramel Pie, and I was over the moon with my choice. This dessert has it all, the perfect homemade cookie crumb base of cheesecake, a gooey layer of salty, sweet filling, a decadent layer of rich, sweet ice cream, candy toppings, and after all that, can still be named a pie! Win! The Salted Caramel layer between the crunchy, buttery base and the ice cream filling is simply divine. You know that ice cream that you come across once in a while, so rich, so creamy (so bad for you, but shhh), well this is the kind of ice cream that comes in a thick layer on this frozen dessert. The whipped cream around the edge adds the lightness to balance it out, and the chocolate covered crunch tops it off beautifully. This is no ordinary pie, this is a frozen dessert for that day you want a real treat. Best of all, you can leave it to thaw for just an hour to enjoy a slightly softer slice, or it can be enjoyed right out of the freezer (if you just cannot wait another second).
Edwards makes 13 delectable varieties from Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup (teaming up with Hershey guarantees it is going to be good!), to Cookies and Crème. They even have a Hershey’s Special Dark for those of you with an insatiable chocolate tooth! However you enjoy this frozen pie, make sure you do it soon!
