Food Truck Round-Up

Last week was the big launch of the Food Truck Renegade party (9th & Bannock).  And unless you live under a rock, you know these foodie truckers are gaining in popularity, and rightfully so.  These are not your Uncle Joe’s hot dog wagons, these are gourmet eats on wheels.  They travel around cities, filling bellies – kinda like a Santa Claus of sorts.  Of course, I was on a mission to find the best sweets so when you see these guys, you can wave them down and get your sweet grub on.  Here are my must haves…

Maximus Lunchimus – (aka, The Max Lunch Truck)

Max has a “cool dude” skater exterior, but MAXimum passion for fine and pure ingredients.  Everything on his truck is made fresh and with only the love a rebel can give.

The MUST have on this truck –  the Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches.  Choose from two varieties – Peanut Butter Butterscotch Chip, with Dark Chocolate Ice Cream or Chocolate Chunk loaded up with Vanilla Ice Cream, my favorite  between the two was the good old fashioned Chocolate Chunk with Vanilla Ice Cream (image 1).  It’s the comfort food of ice cream sandwiches and it made my tummy say “ahhhh”!

Call them in to cater or check out their “around town” schedule.

Sweet, Sweet Revenge (aka, Sweet Revenge Cupcake Truck)

If this is revenge, I want more.  Vanessa and Jamie have a penchant for cupcakes and it shows on their massive menu of flavors.  “Customer determined” daily flavors ranging from Orange Crush, Peanut Butter Cup and Raspberry Lemonade to Dark Chocolate Bacon will have you swooning for 1, or a dozen, more.

The MUST have on this truck – the Key Lime Pie (image 2) was out of this world.  The sweet and sour balanced each other perfectly.  Another highly recommended (though I did not get my lips around personally) was the Pink Champagne.  Covered in a delicate rose of buttercream, I really don’t see how you could go wrong.

Floating around Parker, CO you can find them or call direct to supply you with dozens at your next event.

Chocolate lovers unite at the Bon Bon Buggy

Ashley actually does sit around and eat Bon Bons all day… Ok, maybe she doesn’t sit around eating, but she does create a ton!  The Bon Bon Buggy is a truck solely dedicated to chocolate and delicious chocolate creations at that.

The must have on this buggy – the campfire-free S’more on a Stick.  Unlike a normal messy S’more, this will not leak melty chocolate all over your shirt or give you the Joker smile made of chocolate (well, unless your a 2 year old…or drunk).  I guarantee it.

Find the Buggy at Farmer’s markets and floating around town, or let them haul chocolate to your next event.

Wow. You have a tough job! Ha! I’ll take two of everything! And, who wouldn’t want to try the Dark Chocolate Bacon cupcake?

I must have been the one living under a rock. Good thing…I might gain weight just by showing up!

I’m on a mission to try as many of the food trucks as possible and will be documenting it on my food blog (The Rookie Foodie).

This added a couple more to my list! Thanks!

Part of me (the skinny one in my imagination) wants to call up these truckers and invite them to my neighborhood.

The real part of me, the one that’s getting ready for swimsuit season, thinks it’s a good idea they stay far far away.

Skinny one just might win, though.
