Helliemae’s Salt Caramels: Small Batches, Big Flavor

Helliemae's Salt CaramelHelliemae’s makes caramels by hand using traditional ingredients, with a twist.  I tried their signature Salt Caramels and they were the perfect consistency, I was able to take a bite yet they weren’t sticky.  If you are a caramel lover like me, that last sentence will make perfect sense.  The unexpected comes from the flakes of salt that are on top.  They add a savory element to a very buttery and sweet caramel, which I loved!

Helliemae's Salt Caramels, Denver, Colorado

Ellen, of Helliemae’s, perfected the recipe in her own Denver kitchen with a friend, and uses local ingredients whenever possible. Helliemae’s can be purchased from local shops or online ($18 / half pound box) from their website…I am so tempted to try their newest flavor Coffee Caramels!

Caramels are a great alternative to chocolate for Valentine’s Day, or if you’re looking to send someone a unique gift. Also, we’re not done with Helliemae’s yet, look for an upcoming interview with Ellen right here on Sugar Loco!
