Are you a “Family Circus” fan? You know, the adorable and hysterical comic strip by Bil Keane? What if I told you that I too have been in the “Sugar Bowl” just like the cartoon?
Located in historic Downtown Scottsdale, The Sugar Bowl has been serving residents since 1958, including cartoonist Bil Keane and his family. Once “The Sugar Bowl” was introduced into the comic strip, artist Bil began giving the restaurant his original signed copies of the strip to hang inside. Going into this pink filled diner, you can see many of the hilarious strips hung around.
But it’s not just the comic strips that they are known for. The Sugar Bowl serves up Dreyer’s ice cream in the craziest ways — like a Cream Puffed filled with ice cream covered in hot fudge! YUM! They also have a full lunch & dinner menu with an extensive list of ice cream creations including ice cream soda’s. I was dished up a Mint Chocolate Ice Cream Soda with a shot of extra soda on the side!
What once was started as a family friendly environment continues to be an Arizona tradition here in Scottsdale.
Like Billy would say in Family Circus, “Now I can say I was really in the Sugar Bowl”
Like what you see? Show them some sugar… Website
