Recently, I was introduced to P.B. & Jellies New York Deli in Colorado Springs, with the emphasis being the “P.B.”. One touch of peanut butter to my tongue and I was sold. With peanut butter flavors such as “White Chocolate”, “Cinnamon Raisin”, and wait for it, “Pad Thai”; how could anyone resist? Suddenly the simple ingredient of peanut butter had been transformed into heaven in my mouth.
The creator, Art Romero, has built a number of super chic and extra unique sandwich ideas based off of the traditional peanut butter and jelly. For a mere $7.69 you can get “The Young Elvis” which is honey, crunchy peanut butter, bacon, and bananas piled between two piece of bread and topped off with a side of chips. Make that a double-decker and you now have “The Old Elvis” for only $9.69.
Try the “Give Me S’more”. This sandwich consists of three of my favorite things: marshmallow, teddy grahams, and chocolate peanut butter. What more could you want in a mouthful? Don’t just think that this deli is all fun and games. The shop also offers a wide variety of New York style sandwiches in including the BLT, Pastrami Reuben, and of course, Sabrett Hot Dogs.
The next time you are in the Colorado Springs area or you are just in the mood to try something new, make your way to P.B. & Jellies New York Deli. Between the crazy sandwiches, the fresh jellies, and of course, the mouthwatering peanut butter your taste buds will sing. When you go, make sure to grab a spoonful of the peanut butter “Pad Thai” flavor for me!
P.B. & Jellies New York Deli located downtown on the NE corner of Kiowa and Tejon at 106 E. Kiowa St.
