Pensylvania General Store Specialty Chocolates

This little piggy went to the mailbox and now might not ever come home because I am in absolute Heaven after being introduced to Pennsylvania General Store’s Chocolate Scrapple. Scrapple, in it’s natural form, is actually traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, buckwheat flour, and spices. The mush is formed into a semi-solid hardened loaf, and slices of the scrapple are  pan-fried before serving.  This scapple is far from that! The scrapple that’s being whipped up over at Pennsylvania General Store (in historic Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia)  is made up of a combination of milk chocolate mixed with pieces of popcorn, caramel, marshmallow and nuts. The description alone should be enough to make you want to head over to their website and order yourself a tin. Or maybe some for a friend or family member that you might just conveniently misplace only to later discover and what else is there to do but dig in and enjoy! I will gladly let you call me an “oinker”, because this stuff is just so addicting I polished off the tin within 2 days. As their slogan goes it’s ” no swine, it’s divine!”

I was also lucky enough to try their Philly Chocolate Bar Sampler. This chocolate exhilaration  includes: John & Kiras Dark Chocolate with Guajillo Chili Pepper & Almonds, Eclat Milk Chocolate Obsession Bar with Pretzel Bits, Lores Dark Chocolate and Ashers Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt.  All were just as addicting as the chocolate scrapple. The Dark Chocolate with Guajillo Chili Pepper & Almonds really had me singing praises, as it provided just the right amount of a hint of kick to it! High quality chocolate at its finest. Pennsylvania General Store offers tasty gifts perfect for the holidays and are available for order online as well as in store.
