Pulling some Strings {Denver}

No matter how many desserts are laid in front of me I will always have a favorite, it’s the one that my taste buds keep calling me back to.  The one my fork seems to have a crush on.  BUT sometimes I am thrown off by my own theory, and it happened at Strings in Denver.

In this case I tried 5 of their top desserts.  5 lovely creations, which I’ll share a little fact with you, actually come out of D Bar’s kitchen!  You can have D Bar creations, yet not wait in the D Bar line, like all the D Bar fanatics.  It won’t be the same menu, they’ll be different crazy-insanely-good creations at Strings, without the wait.  I give you full permission to scoff at those waiting in line while you enjoy your desserts on the patio of Strings.  You can even OOOH and AAAAH really loudly, making sure they hear you too.

Narrowing this down has been difficult, I know you’re playing the violins for me right now as I make my final decisions.  Here I go.

Float Du Jour – I happened to have stumbled in there outta my mind HUNGRY. They put this lovely in front of me, a Strawberries n Creme Float.  Vanilla Ice Cream, Strawberry Sorbet, Macerated Strawberries, White Chocolate Mousse & Cream Soda.  A nostalgic’s own personal heaven.  So light, so refreshing, so summery, soooo craving more with a bigger straw next time.

Because I cannot guarantee that this one will be in season when you stop in, lucky day for me, I get to add another favorite to my list (it’s how I slide around my own rules of the Sugar Loco game).

Strawberry Rhubarb – I admit, my nose crinkles a little when I hear “rhubarb”, I haven’t been a fan…until now.  Strings has made me a believer in the seasonal rhubarb craze.  I get it.  Buttermilk Panna Cotta, Strawberry Rhubarb Compote, Strawberry Coulis, Almond Crumble, Fresh Strawberry, Hazelnut Linzer Cookie, Strawberry Marmalade.  A strawberry rhubarb fanatic’s playground.  

It’s layered so I was “taught” how to eat it.  Actually, every time I tried to just scoop some of the almond crumble layer off the top, I was slapped across the knuckles with a ruler by my eating companion (you know who you are).  I didn’t argue, it really was the best way to eat it, all layers piled a mile high on my spoon.

Note:  She’s so beautiful, it took me all of 2 seconds to destroy it.
