Recipe Roundup: Brownies

It’s winter, and it’s definitely cold outside (especially if you are on the East Coast)! Comfort is paramount in a season that brings your mood down and brings weather that can sour any day. So what is the best way to escape that? Well, one of the best ways is by getting in the kitchen, throwing on your apron, and baking up a storm.

There is something special about a brownie fresh out of the oven, as that warm, gooey (or dense or soft) chocolate magic can instantly turn a frown upside down. So here are a few favorites found around the web that hopefully will inspire you to make some of your own and find that temporary escape from the winter cold. Enjoy (and let us know what you think)!

1. Sweet and Salty Brownies

This recipe from The Vanilla Bean blog gets it right. Sweet and salty? Truly an unbeatable combination. Get the recipe here!

2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies

Sort of an extension of the sweet/salty vibe, peanut butter and chocolate is a highly addictive combination. This recipe from two peas & their pod is even sinful to look at (but super delish!). Try it here.

3. Beer Brownies

Beer and brownies? No way (you say)! A strange thought, I know, but think about it like this: a dark, creamy stout feels like chocolate enough on its own, so it pairs very well with chocolate in recipes. Luscious to the extreme. Enjoy it here!

4. ‘Dave and Kate’s Chocolate Brownies’

These are wonderfully classic, traditional American brownies—the kind that are cakey and chewy and packed with chocolate flavor. David Lebovitz knows what it’s all about. Check out the recipe here.

5. Fudgy Black Bean Brownies

I know, I know—black bean brownies? They sound bizarre but are surprisingly delicious. And guess what? There are THREE ingredients and great for vegans. Check it out here.
