Stay Sane this October with the Orange Spiced Pumpkin Martini from VOGA Italia

Now that it’s officially October, there’s a lot going on in the sweets industry. With Halloween seemingly right around the corner, candy companies are gearing up to make sure that no child’s pillowcase is left empty. You’ll notice your local grocery stores stocking entire aisles full of candy. Not just any candy either. HUUUUGE bags of candy. You ever try taking a kid into a grocery store in October? Good luck keeping them away from that gigantic double-wide aisle that houses probably a billion or so calories. You know how some birds use the Earth’s magnetic field to determine their migration patterns? There’s something similar with kids and that candy aisle.

Now this isn’t to say that we adults don’t enjoy candy too. But there’s something about THAT MUCH candy that makes a lot of us recoil at the memories of post-Halloween stomachaches. Plus, we also understand that that’s “giving away candy”, not “eating candy”, so we don’t get as excited. Despite that, we still have to deal with the kids being pulled in that direction, and the inevitable tantrum that comes with the kids realizing, for the umpteenth time, that they’re NOT leaving with the 5 lb bag of Skittles.

It’s enough to make us think that the time leading up to Halloween ought to include A LOT of drinking for parents. To help set the mood for the month, VOGA Italia Wine sent us this recipe that’s sure to take the edge off of any October shopping trip with the kiddos. Here it is –
