Father’s Day and doughnuts go hand in hand….Ok I lied, doughnuts go hand in hand with everything (even a salad). And since we can’t be everywhere all the time, we’ve got Super (not so) Secret Sweet Agents all over the country sending us their faves to share with you.
This one comes from Sheri in The Big Apple, from her blog Donuts, Dresses and Dirt (love the name, Sheri). She recently made a stop at Doughnut Plant, which we think would be a fabulous place to take Dad on the big day, or shoot, take yourself just because. You don’t have to justify it to us.
Seriously? My favorite Doughnut Plant doughnut? It’s almost impossible to pick – they are all so incredibly delicious!
But without a doubt, my hands-down favorite would have to be the crème brulee doughnut. Filled with an elegant, made-from-scratch custard, the top is then literally “bruleed” – giving the doughnut that signature burnt sugar topping that is to die for. No matter what I get at Doughnut Plant I always get a crème brulee!

That said, if Dad must have chocolate, there are 2 – a Valrhona chocolate yeast doughnut and a “Blackout” cake variety.
