The Brigadeiro, A Brazilian Treat with Leblon Recipe @lebloncachaca

Everyone knows our love for sweets and our love for drinks, right? So I’m assuming you can imagine how deeply excited we get when the two our combined – DRINKS in our SWEETS! Mmm!

Steve Luttmann, founder of Leblon, a Brazilian spirit and author of his newest book, “How to Be a Brazilian” is sharing with us their recipe for a Spiked Brigadeiro. Now the question – What is a Brigadeiro (bree-gah-DEI-ro).

Brigardeiro’s are the Brazilian version of a truffle and served at most birthdays and summer parties. Their recipe today is perfect for summer with its lemon and lime flavors.

Recipe is available in the book How to Be a Brazilian by Steve Luttmann available on or

1 tablespoon butter
1 (14 oz) can condensed milk
1 tbsp Leblon Cachaca
Lemon and lime zest
Granulated sugar

In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, combine butter, Leblon Cachaca, and condensed milk. Cook the mixture until it thickens enough to show the pan bottom during stirring (it will be firm enough to stay together and not spread), about 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the lime and lemon zest. Stir vigorously. Pour into a dish and let cool to room temperature. Lightly grease your hands with butter and take small amounts of candy and form into 1 1/2″ balls. Roll them on sugar and lemon/lime zest and place into mini baking cups.
