The Trader Joes Cookie Butter Cult {Everywhere}

Show of hands – Who here has heard of cookie butter? Now, keeping your hand raised, who would consider themselves part of the “Cookie Butter Cult”?

Yes – my hand is still raised high. I’m that girl in the back waving high with joy – me! Me! ME!

If you’re reading this and thinking I’m a total looney-bin, then please take a moment to stop in to your local Trader Joe’s and pick up a jar of Cookie Butter. Trust Me – You’ll Understand.

My sister-in-law introduced me to this rich creamy delight back around Christmas when Trader Joe’s was offering it as a seasonal item. I immediately fell in love and the moment I got back home I quickly rushed over to our TJ’s. To my udder disappointment they were sold out {sigh}. For two weeks I would peek my head in (yes, while lugging my two kiddo’s in and out) until finally they were in stock! Cha-Ching! Jack-pot.

I must take a moment to tell you a little story. As I was checking out I asked the man behind the register, “Have you had this yet?”. Checker: “Not only have I tried it, I’ve deep-fried it! Took me 4 different batters and 11 hours of work, but I did it!”  Me: “Oh my word, so I guess you were pretty bummed when they were sold out right?” Checker: “Bummed? I was devastated.”

Now do you understand when I said it was a Cult?

My husband is Dutch and for the nearly 5 years I’ve been married to him, they continue to try to get this crazy Italian woman to fall in love with their treats and dishes. Well Speculoos, you my friend are Spectacular! These delicious gingerbread like cookies are what Trader Joe’s has blended into a peanut butter consistency and called Cookie Butter. The jar suggests putting it on sandwiches and pretzels, or ice cream and pancakes, but honestly it really hasn’t gone too far as I’m usually just enjoying it right off the spoon! Mmm.

And here’s the delicious kicker – they also make it in candy bar form. Creamy cookie butter surrounded by rich dark chocolate = HEAVEN!

Seriously – go grab yourself a jar. And if you don’t have a TJ’s, I’d be glad to be your “supplier” to this delicious addiction {hehe}

Like what you see? Show them some sugar…
