Time Flies When You’re Having Rum – Kenny Chesneys Rum that is @BlueChairBayRum

Grab yourself a cheap seat, floating or flying.  Anything southbound, heading to the islands.  Grab a little white sand, maybe your get blues tanned.  Riptides rippin’, the sunset’s dippin’, you smile that smile, keep on sippin’.  Time flies sitting in the sun, when you’re feeling numb.  Time flies when you’re having rum.” – Kenny Chesney

Couldn’t help but listen to that song as soon as I found out that Kenny Chesney is the founder of Blue Chair Bay.  Now, I will be completely honest and tell you that I am not a “rum drinker”, and I had my reservations.  The main reason why rum isn’t always my go-to choice is unfortunately, I am not a coconut fan.  BUT… I will say this; Blue Chair Bay White Rum… did NOT have one hint of coconut (as far as I can tell).  I could not smell coconut, and could not taste coconut.  That being said, I believe this will be my number one choice of rum from here on out.  This would definitely be great for a beach themed event such as a bridal shower, birthday bash, anniversary party, etc.

I used this rum in a couple different recipes.  First we tried  the rum, pineapple orange juice, and 7-up…loved it.  The second thing we tried was making our own Sangria.  We sliced up an orange, lemon, and lime – soaked them for an hour in the rum mixed with sugar.  After an hour we mixed in a bottle of Merlot, soaked it for another hour… then mixed it with a little orange juice and it’s ready to serve.  Now… this wasn’t my favorite, I will be honest with you.  I wish we had more around the house to make some of the recipes that Kenny Chesney has offered, see my favorites below:

10 with a 2

2 oz. Blue Chair Bay Coconut Rum
1 1/2 oz. Pineapple juice
10 mint leaves
Juice of 1 lime wedge
Splash of simple syrup
1 oz. Light lager beer or Club Soda

Shake all ingredients with ice (except for the beer/soda, dude) in a cocktail shaker. Strain over ice into a rocks glass. Top with beer/soda and a nice mint sprig.

Sumthin’ Blue

1 1/2 oz. Blue Chair Bay White Rum
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
1 oz. white cranberry juice (or white grape juice)

Shake ingredients very well with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled martini glass.

Awesome touch: a floating star anise or strawberry slice.

Blue Chair Bay also offers a Coconut Rum, and a Coconut Spiced Rum.  I highly recommend you give any of the three selections a try! Enjoy!!
