Turn up the Heat – Tanteo Jalapeño

Everyone sat around Carla’s great-aunt Olivia’s living room last Saturday oohing and awing at diaper genies and tiny cowboy outfits. Emily, Carla’s cousin insisted I try the Caprese on a stick salad she made (Pintrest inspired!). And grandmother-to-be sat pen in hand to write down which gifts came from whom.

Forty-five minutes in, while she was holding up a monogrammed onsie, Carla and I locked eyes. “Please don’t let this go down in history as the most boring event of all time,” her gaze pleaded.

With a simple nod I went into the kitchen, pulled the bottle of Tanteo’s Jalapeño spicy tequila out of my purse, that I had packed for this exact emergency.

No one even noticed I had slipped out of the room, investigated Olivia’s entire kitchen until I found enough glasses and a pitcher to get this shower ready for guest to make it rain. In minutes I whipped up a pitcher of Sweet Heat Margaritas.

I walked through the room of women demurely smiling at an 8-pack of bibs with elephants on them. Each lady was given a hot raspberry cocktail. Within 5 minutes the slight bemusement of tiny things turned into a spicy room of ladies losing their minds over a tiny fedora for Baby Jack.

Not only did everyone have a fantastic time, all of Carla’s elderly guests handed her cash as just “a little something extra for the baby” as they walked out the door.

So the next time you are headed to a mundane event, remember to turn up the heat with Tanteo’s Jalapeño tequila.


Sweet Heat Margarita


  • 2 oz Tanteo® Jalapeño Tequila
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ¾ oz Agave Nectar
  • 4-5 Raspberries


  1. Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice
  2. Shake well and strain into a salt-rimmed, ice-filled Rocks Glass
  3. Garnish with a raspberry or jalapeño slice
